A Bit About Me

Born in St. John's, NL, Abra (BMus, MMus) has enjoyed a varied and eclectic career performing, teaching and supporting the arts. As a performer, Abra has produced her own shows focusing on the music of Nina Simone, Edith Piaf, and Gladys Knight, as well as the genres of Jazz, Pop and Musical Theatre. She is a frequent performer with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra (NSO), Opera on the Avalon (OOTA), TaDa! Events, Atlantic Light Theatre, Theatre St. John's and many more. As a teacher, Abra focuses on a Person-First approach, as well as learning through joy, and creative play. She is a Voice and Piano teacher at Intervals Music Studio, and is the curriculum creator and teacher of the popular Do-Re-Mi and You Group Vocal class, also at Intervals. As a choral music enthusiast, Abra is the Artistic Director and General Manager of the Coastal Sounds Choir Association (CSCA), which includes the Coastal Sounds Community Choir and Aurora Women's Choir ensembles. She is a founding member of Projekt Chamber Voices, directed by Amy Henderson, and is a proud member of the award winning Lady Cove Women's Choir, directed by Kellie Walsh.

Tracy R. (Private Lesson Parent)

"Abra is the best piano and voice teacher bar none! My daughter has grown so much in her ability to play piano, sing, and to perform musical theatre. Abra has given her the confidence she has needed. She goes above and beyond for her students. She is very caring and is concerned not just for the students ability to perform but for their whole being as a person. I wouldn't want my girl to be taught by anyone else as long as Abra is there."
